Dr V K Vamadevan, Head, Water Management (Agriculture) Division visited the National Academy of Sciences, Washington DC, USA for discussion on alley cropping systems during 26-30 September 1984. The Academy agreed to finance projects "Effect of alley cropping systems on nitrogen cycling, soil and water conservation in Western Ghat area" and "The use of N-15 studies in upland coconut based alley cropping system"
Dr Vamadevan participated in the Second Tropical Trees Co-ordination Meeting held at the National Institute for research on Biotic sources (INIREB), Xalpa, Mexico on 1-4 October 1984 on invitation from the Board on Science and Technology for International Development, National Research Council, Washington DC, USA. He chaired the session on "Ecological Data Collection For Tropical Trees Project".
This is in continuation of my article "Efficiency during old age" dated April 8, 2008
