Pension

Dear friends,
Today two of our colleagues retired from their service in CWRDM, without getting Service Pension . They are : 1. Mr C. Gangadharan, Driver and 2.Ms M. Sarojini, General worker. Both of them are very much dedicated to their work and are very much punctual in discharging their duties. I wish a very healthy, peaceful and prosperous retired life to them.

In the retirement function the Employees Organization Working President made a remark that the retired persons will be getting pension if we have made efforts for that at the beginning. Actually the utterances are due to his ignorance because I know that in 1980 itself (at that time there was only one union and its President was late Com. V K Rajan, MLA and the then Minister for Agriculture) Employees Association President Com VK Rajan, MLA had submitted a memorandum to the Governing Body Chairman of CWRDM and the Honorable Minister for Irrigation Dr Subba Rao containing 43 demands in which the second one was Pension. At that time senior Scientists were not for Pension and consequently it was kept in abeyance. Even after in last Nayanar Ministry as well as in Umman Chandy Ministry also the same thing happened and Pension became a mirage to the employees of CWRDM.

A personal staff recruited for a Minister, after two years gets pension but a person working in CWRDM for so many years are devoid of pension. We can't blame the Govt. ,it is due to our own faults. Even today the employees are not at one with the matter and the Central Govt. is for Contributory pension. Thus "deferred earnings" importance has gone and nowadays I am also tamed to accept Contributory Provident Fund and PF pension even though it is very meager. There are lot of people in India who are unable to make both ends to meet. We can start looking downwards instead of always looking upwards.

Nuclear deal

Dear friends,
Today Kerala State Electricity Board requested the Govt.of Kerala for imposing one hour power cut. I am astonished to hear this because this is rainy season in Kerala. We mainly depend on Hydroelectric Power for Domestic, Commercial and Industrial purposes. If this is the fate, what will the condition in the peak summer i.e: March to May. The current generating Technologies are well known to LDF people and they are propagating it through medias also. They are aware that apart from hydroelectric power current can be generated from waves, wind, hydrocarbons, solar and bio energy etc. But what I can't understand is that even though from 1957 onwards they are ruling Kerala intermittently still why they are not able to utilize these sources?. Is the production of electricity from coal is environment friendly and much more efficient? Then why our Indian Railways abandoned trains run by coal and water? LDF want to flourish with Industrialization, Smart City etc. Without electricity how they are going to achieve this? Are they waiting for getting power in Delhi and implement N-deal as in the case of ADB agreement? At any rate the people has to suffer!

Our eminent scientists says that "Once the deal (Nuclear deal) is in place, it is also clear that India's commercial nuclear interactions with the US as well as with any other country will be firmly controlled from Washington via the stipulations of the Hyde Act 2006 enforced through the stranglehold with the US retains on the Nuclear Suppliers Group".It is true that any agreement will be like that only. If we are powerful, naturally we will dominate. We have to strive for that. That should be the aim of the politicians. ISRO made much more advances in space research than BARC which was established much earlier. This, I feel, is due to the sanctions imposed by International community on us after the 1974 Pochran nuclear experiment, by which BARC is not able to buy even good quality foreign instruments. I don't think that our LDF leaders are not aware of this grave situation.I feel that India should follow the Chinese model for the development of our country, keep away the iron ideologies in the fast growing word as done in China. We must be realistic in the fast growing World other wise we will be heaped along with undeveloped countries. This is my ignorant thoughts which is left for your valuation.

Be united for the progress!
With best wishes

Thomas Gray

Dear friends,
'Elegy written in a country churchyard' is a poem impressed me very much. This was written by Mr Thomas Gray(1716-1771). I have studied this poem for my Degree course in 1974. The imprints of it still remains in my mid, especially the following lines

The boast of heraldry, the pomp of power,

And all that beauty, all that wealth e'er gave,

Awaits like th' inevitable hour:

The paths of glory lead but to the grave.

Last Sunday our neighbor Sidco Vasu has passed away. He was a plan designer and contractor, helped me a lot in our house construction. He was 49 years only and left behind his wife one son and a daughter. They are studying in 10th and 8th standard. He spent his life very joyfully and his life philosophy was the same. My heart felt condolence to the bereaved family members.

Retirement

Dear friends,
Owing to some family matters I was unable to take stock of the retirement of one of my colleague on 31st May 2008. Mr Gangadharan K, Section Officer, belongs to the rice bowl of Kerala i.e: Palakkad. He was a good singer and made our cultural activities lively. He is a farmer turned into Office Assistant. While taking leave he told me that he will continue his farming activities after retirement.

It's good!

Nowadays people are not interested in cultivation. It is mainly due to the fact that agriculture is not a profitable job compared to business or other jobs. I appreciate his decision and commitment towards society. I came to know that his son is also a social worker. Even though Mr Gangadharan had retired from the service of CWRDM he is emerging as a Phoenix and continues his service to the people. He is a man to be copied and followed in the world of illusion. I wish him and his family a happy and prosperous long life for the dedicated service to the people
With best wishes
