Importance of Public transport

Dear friends,
To day we celebrated Technology day. Dr Jayathilak,IAS, District collector of Kozhikode inaugurated the function. Two points in his speech which impressed me very much are: (1) we follows American model of transport system which gives importance to individual transport aids i.e; a single family possesses more than two vehicles. where as in European countries more importance is given to public transport system. As a consequence of American model our country has to find out more sources for the purchase of oil. This naturally cripples our economy.

The above point was accumulated in my mind when I saw Bremen in Germany in connection with a training programme. I heard from them that they give incentives for persons using public transport system because providing vehicle parking facility in Bremen is very costly apart from oil price. They also encourages bicycle users by providing separate space for them and pedestrians

The second point which impressed me in Dr Jayathilaks speech is that before making roads we should first prepare drainage systems on both sides of the roads in order to protect it from flooding. As per the present system of making roads this important point is neglected and hence after each raining the the roads will collapse. Dr Jayathilak has made his speech in front of our younger generation and I hope that his message will make more impact on our society and he is also a person involved in decision making. I hope that his vision will be fulfilled in future.
with good wishes

sad incident in my life

Dear friends,
It was a fine morning and I was playing in the courtyard. I will be about three years old at that time. My elder sister, Karthyayani, was combing my mothers hair while sitting in the veranda. Suddenly my mother slanted towards the courtyard and fell down. My sister started crying and called out our neighbor Narayaniamma. I have no images what happened then but what I can visualize still today is the scene of my father lying down on 2 X6 feet bench which is kept in front of our veranda and some fires in the southern part of our 30 cents land.

Later I came to know that my mother has passed away and she was cremated in the southern part of our land comprising the house. At that time I was not much aggrieved because I was pampered by my mothers elder sister Puthiyarakal Moothamma. Later I was very much aggrieved by her demise. This is the greatest sad incidence in my life. Still now droplets comes to my eyes whenever a person scolds a mother.
I am stopping now!
See you later;

My childhood

Dear friends,
As per my school records I was born on 10th June 1953. This may not be correct because during that period there was no strict rules and hence the teachers will enter the date of birth as they like. If we check the date of birth of people at that period, most of them will we born in the month of May and June. I was admitted in Chevayur UP school in 1959. Owing to illness I was unable to attend the school on that year. Next year I attended the school and up to 10th standard I got promotion without failure.

At the age of twelve onwards I started helping my father in his business. Study was a part time business to me. My father was a vegetable retail merchant conducted his business at Moonalingal near Beach Hospital. After regular classes I will walk about 3 Km to reach at Thodayad, from there the bus fare to Moonalingal reduces to 15 nayapaise instead of 20 from Chevayur. My father used to give me 50 nayapaise(=1/2 Rupee) daily. Thus I earned 15 paise daily. Using this money with the help of my sister, Karthyayani, I joined a Chitty for a Coat. The cost of the Coat was Rs 80. My wife was telling me to hand over this Coat to our neighbor but I cant part with it ,so I gave another Coat to her .

During that time there were Three buses from Chevayur plying through Moonalingal to Nadakavu. One was Ex service men motors the other NV Motor service and the last CC & KP motor service. In the evening I used to travel in NV motor service and in the morning in CC & KP. It arrives at Moonalingal at 8'o clock morning and reaches at Chevayur around 8.30 am. From there I walk about 1.5 Km to reach my house at Kovoor. After bath I used to leave to school. This was my routine activity from the age of 12 to 14 i.e ; from 5th standard to 7th standard. I have to tell you some sad incidence that occurred in my childhood.
